CORPSMAN’S

STORY

The Corpsman’s Apothecary is a Veteran owned and operated, small batch, handmade grooming company started in Boston, MA. Our mission is to provide clients with a high quality, consistent portfolio of grooming products and to support our mission of giving back to our nation’s heroes. We aspire to enrich the lives of American Veterans and First Responders with advocacy, outreach, internal job opportunities, and donations to The Heroes Project.

Throughout my life I always struggled to find a product that worked well in my hair. Either the product’s hold was too firm and tugged too much, or it was too thin and didn’t offer enough hold. Admittedly, sometimes the biggest problem was I just didn’t know how to style my hair like my barber did—I was clueless. I found that a lot of other men had the same problem.

After high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and my hair problems were solved by the fabulous barbers at Recruit Depot Parris Island. Their solution was the same for every recruit’s hair problem…shave it all off. My hair was the least of my worries during my years as an active-duty Marine, LOL.

After a very eventful five years in the Marine Corps from ’99-’04, I was honorably discharged and immediately pursued a dual degree bachelor’s in finance & marketing. I quickly realized the finance world wasn’t for me and explored bartending and restaurant management for the next ten years. Once again, I was faced with my age-old problem of never actually being happy with the way I styled and managed my hair. I always had hair envy and would often find that the products I tried were cheap and had harmful ingredients or were all natural but hard to use; like trying to style my hair with candle wax.

It was during a transition in my life when I began focusing on wellness that I decided to embark on the journey to create a new line of grooming products. I wanted it to not only benefit me but also wounded Veterans and First Responders. I decided that I would develop a men’s grooming product line that solved the problems I had struggled with; one that used all-natural ingredients, was easy to use and easy to wash out, and helped men look our best. I wanted to develop a superior product that my clients were proud to use and supported a worthy cause.

It was at this time I discovered The Heroes Project and met their amazing founder, Tim Medvets. It was then that I knew a portion of our proceeds must support The Heroes Project’s vision to make the impossible a reality—by empowering our injured Veteran & First Responder community through physical and emotional training, allowing them to explore the farthest reaches of themselves and the world they live in. Their expeditions challenge the severely wounded to redefine their personal limits post injury. The Heroes Project inspires our injured men and women to find purpose, both physically and mentally, and ignites others to do the same! We are so proud to be a part of that recovery. Please visit www.theheroesproject.org to learn more.

The Corpsman’s Apothecary is now a global brand with a wide array of quality all-natural hair, face, and body products. Our development team will not stop until we create a solution for all aspects of men’s grooming.
