The

CORPSMAN’S

STORY

The Corpsman’s Apothecary is a Veteran owned & operated, small batch, handmade grooming company started in Boston, MA. Our mission is to provide our clients with a quality and consistent portfolio of grooming products all the while giving back to our Veteran and First Responder community and helping to provide for them a better quality of life through outreach, donations to The Heroes Project, and offering them job opportunities within our company.

Throughout my life I always struggled to find a product that worked well in my hair. Either the product’s hold was too firm and tugged too much, or it was too thin and didn’t offer enough hold. Yes, sometimes the biggest problem was I just didn’t know how to style my hair like my barber did and I was clueless. I found that a lot of other men also had the same problem.

After high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and my hair problems were resolved by the fabulous barbers at Recruit Depot Parris Island. Their solution was the same for every recruit’s hair problem…shave it all off. For the next 5 years as an active-duty Marine, my hair problems were solved, LOL.

After a very eventful 5 years in the Marine Corps from ’99-’04, I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps to immediately enroll into college at Bridgewater State University where I received a dual bachelor’s in finance & marketing. After a quick career in Finance, I realized the finance world just wasn’t for me and moved to bartending then managed restaurants for the next 10 years. Once again, I was faced with my age-old problem of never actually being happy with the way I styled and managed my hair. I’m not quite sure what it was but I always had hair envy and always found that the products offered either at my local barbershop or store were either cheap and had harmful ingredients or were all natural but hard to use; like trying to style my hair with candle wax.

In March of 2018, I ended my career in the restaurant industry as it seemed to be sucking the life out of me with long hours and a fast night life. I moved into the health and wellness field as the General Manager of a luxury fitness brand in Boston, MA. When I made this move, I found that I had a lot of time on my hands transitioning from 70+ hour work weeks to a modest 45 hours a week. It was during this time that things really seemed to be coming together.

It was during this transition in my life that I decided to embark on a journey to create a new line of grooming products. I wanted it to not only benefit me in many ways, but it also HAD to benefit wounded Veterans and First Responders somehow. I decided that I wanted to develop a men’s grooming product line that not only addressed the numerous problems I was finding with mainstream brands, it also had to be all natural, easy to use and easy to wash out. I wanted to develop a superior product that worked for my clients and one that they can be proud to use; all the while knowing that they are helping give back to wounded Veterans & First Responders.

It was at this time I discovered The Heroes Project and met their amazing founder, Tim Medvets. It was after collaboration with Tim that I knew immediately a portion of our proceeds must support The Heroes Project and their effort to make the impossible a reality by empowering our injured Veteran & First Responder community through physical and emotional training, allowing them to explore the farthest reaches of themselves and the world they live in. Their expeditions challenge the severely wounded to redefine their personal limits post injury. The Heroes Project inspires our injured men and women to find purpose, both physically and mentally, and ignites others to do the same! We are so proud to be a part of that recovery. The Corpsman’s Apothecary is now a global brand with a wide array of quality all-natural hair, face and body products. Our development team will not stop until we create a solution for all aspects of men’s grooming. Women are using our products too and we are currently deriving a plan to create a women’s line of products as well.
